This nocturnal frog can be recognised by the dark patch on its tympanum (eardrum) and skin folds on its back. It can be distinguished from similar species by the 'W'-shaped fold of skin behind its head.

Habitat
A nocturnal species mainly found in the forest, but may venture into clearings.
