Anoplodesmus saussurii comes from India/Ceylon and is now one of the most abundant millipedes in Singapore. It breeds in compost put around roadside trees, that has not been allowed to heat up enough during composting to kill the eggs, and is spread by that means. See: Tertilt, T. M & Decker, P. (2012) Management of urban millipedes in Singapore. It is currently infesting the Tanah Merah Coast Road / Changi Coast Walk area. It makes a bad smell when disturbed, secreting hydrogen cyanide. I have not seen any local predators eating them. There are masses of them all over the area.
