Description:

Planted for its starchy roots which are processed to make a starch called tapioca. In Singapore the plant itself is also called tapioca. The young leaves are cooked as a vegetable in Malaysia. However, it is not advisable to eat too much as they contain compounds that release the poison cyanide.
