  • Giant african land snail

    Achatina fulica

Recorded By: Beng Tang
Category: Mollusc
Date Spotted: 6 Dec 2018

This snail was spread throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific by the Japanese army as a food source during World War II. It is widely eaten in Africa but not popular as food here. If eaten, it must be cooked well as it carries various parasitic worms that can cause serious illness in humans.
