Xylocopa latipes (Broad-footed Carpenter Bee) Female Fun little blurb: Carpenter bees are one of the more docile bees. They're relatively harmless, and rather clumsy. The one in the photo taken actually pulled a flower off by accident while I was taking a picture of it, haha. Like many other bees, wasps, and hornets, male carpenter bees do not sting, as stingers are actually the female bee's modified ovipositor; an organ used to lay eggs.
